Rob Halford Signs Deal to Reissue Solo Catalog, “Essential” Compilation Due Out Next Week

Posted in Music News

Legacy RecordingsJudas Priest frontman Rob Halford has signed a new record deal that will see the reissue of nearly all of the albums and videos he released with his side projects Halford, Two and Fight.  The reissue campaign will begin with a two-CD, 30-track compilation titled The Essential Rob Halford that will hit stores on March 30.

In addition to the individual albums and video releases that will be made available, other retrospectives are also planned, including a Playlist collection and Complete Albums Box set.

After Halford left Judas Priest in 1992, he formed the band Fight, which released two albums and an EP during the years 1993 through 1995.  The rock legend followed that group with the industrial metal duo Two, whose only studio effort came out in 1998.  Then, in 2000, the powerhouse singer founded the straight metal band Halford, which has released a variety of studio albums, live record and videos.  Rob rejoined Judas Priest in 2003, but has continued to sporadically record with Halford.

Here is a list of Rob Halford’s various non-Judas Priest releases that will be reissued:

Fight:
War of Words (1993)
Mutations (1994)
A Small Deadly Space (1995)
K5 — The “War of Words” Demos (1997)
War of Words: The Film (video) (2007)
Live in Phoenix (video) (2008)

Two:
Voyeurs (1998)

Halford:
Resurrection (2000)
Live Insurrection (2001)
Crucible (2002)
Metal God Essentials: Volume 1 (2007)
Live at Rock in Rio 3 (album and video) (2008)
Winter Songs (2009)
Made of Metal (2010)
Live in Anaheim (album and video) (2010)
Live at Saitama Super Arena (album and video) (2011)
Live in London (2012)
Live 2010 North & South America Tour (album and video)
Metal God Essentials: Volume 2

Image Courtesy of Island Records/DCD2 RecordsFall Out Boy fans are finding the band’s new single to be “irresistible.”

“Irresistible,” the opening track from FOB’s forthcoming album, American Beauty/American Psycho, debuted at number seven on Billboard‘s Hot Rock Songs chart — the band’s highest debut on the chart since AB/AP‘s first single, “Centuries,” bowed at number two. AB/AP will be released on January 20, and it’s also currently streaming in full on YouTube.

Kid Rock also made a big debut on Hot Rock Songs with “First Kiss,” the title track from his forthcoming album. “First Kiss” comes in at number 13 — Rock’s first appearance on the chart since he made it to number 12 in 2012 with “Let’s Ride.” First Kiss the album will be released February 24.

As for the young guns, Catfish and the Bottlemen make their first appearance on Hot Rock Songs for the first time with two songs: “Kathleen” at number 40 and “Cocoon” at 50. The Welsh band released their debut album, The Balcony, in the U.S. on January 6.

The most surprising debut on Hot Rock Songs this week goes to post-hardcore band I Prevail, who hit number nine with their cover of pop star Taylor Swift‘s mega-hit “Blank Space.”

Rocket With Hangar 19 (Sunday 9pm)

Rocket at Hangar 19 every Sunday Night at 9pm!

Hangar 19 relives the glory days of classic metal and features music from the artists who built this explosive genre, including Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Metallica, Anthrax, Korn, Slayer and Marilyn Manson.

CutterHeadShot-212x300Cutter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to hosting Hangar 19. The guy lives and breathes heavy metal. After spending his teenage years not going to school and playing guitar in punk and metal bands, Cutter got an almost real job working for a classic rock radio station. After a few years of overnights and filling in for other people, plus complaining there wasn’t any Iron Maiden in the station’s library, he moved onto Assistant Program Director and eventually to Morning Show Host for an active rock station.

During this time, he also created his first metal radio show. His show became so popular that it spawned its own concert series and broke bands like Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for My Valentine and countless others into the radio station’s playlist. The new metal stuff was cool, but Cutter realized its old school roots are where it’s at.

Watching his own son wear skinny jeans and seeing new metal become flavored with pop and bad rap, Cutter wanted to show the world where metal began, where it was brought to and why it is where it is now.
